Constipation Relief

Constipation is a very common but also very stressful condition.
It can be caused by many different factors from medications, stress levels, diet, physiology and gut health.
Here are some simple tips to try if you suffer with mild constipation from time to time:

1. Make sure you are getting enough water. it sounds so simple but many people do not drink enough water during the day. You should aim for between 1.5-2l daily, ideally spread over the course of the day.

2. Increase your fibre intake. Brits get on average less than half the daily recommended amount of fibre. Make sure you are eating 8 portions of vegetables and 2 portions of fruit per day. Variety is key.

3. Foods that can relieve constipation:
– Ground flaxseeds – add a couple of tablespoons to some yogurt or porridge.
– Kiwi fruit – try to eat the whole fruit, including the skin.
– Dried fruit such as apricots or figs.
– Kefir – a type of fermented yogurt can help
.- A green smoothie with apple, pear, kiwi and spinach. You can even add some flaxseeds too.

4. A good probiotic.
I like to recommend:BioCare Acidophilus Forte – Click HERE for a link, use practitioner code P11169 for a discount.

5. Sometimes other supplements can also help but these are dependent on individual needs and nutrient status.
